Pupils or Students in various schools in Uganda lack skills in mitigating and escaping from risks, attacks, disaster and conflicts, when they occur. And the teachers are not equipped with such trainings to help them. This has left many children and anyone to suffer and fall a victim because of lack of knowledge and skills for escape routes skills or rescue. Such risks and disasters include: arsons or fire, flood, lightning, electric shock, prolonged drought and strikes or conflicts, kidnapping or offering positioned food by fellow friend or stranger. Government of Uganda instituted Conflict, Disaster and Risk Management to be piloted in schools before incorporating into the syllabus, but its implementation needs skilled experts which is lacking. We have taken this from government initiative to train students/pupils in each region by equipping them with basics skills and teachers too to be trained and to use the ready guides developed by government's disaster , conflict and risk experts to be thought during the normal class lessons. We urge your single contribution to support this first ever training in Uganda for the children who are the future pillars to study in a safe environment. Children spent most of their times at school and they need to be highly knowledgeable and skilled. Uganda for long has never thought of preparing its citizens in conflict, disaster and risk mitigation. Due to constant risks and disasters experienced, government has designed this policy to be implemented in future. But we need this to be done now before its too late, this training will also help anyone to be equipped with basic skills and knowledge to save themselves from risks, disasters and conflicts.
